Juke Joint Jupiter and Motion Picture Soundtrack Updates
Juke Joint Jupiter which happened quite some time received a wonderfully warm reception. The bar was filled but not packed, thereby allowing lovers of the blues enough room to tank up on some beers while working up a sweat gyrating to the awesome line up that night. The Big Pink, Triple6Poser and Jack and the Howlin Wolf successfully garnered the attention of a mix of people.
I saw children, slightly mature working adults and hot young things all congregated together for a night of blues, soul and rock n roll.

Motion Picture Soundtrack last month saw acts like Koma, I am Rain and They Will Kill Us All storm Laundry's seemingly too small stage. Kurasaraksaksa had the stage made up with neon colored odds and ends that reminded me of a childhood wonderland tainted by a bad mushroom trip.
Fairuz 'Blur' Sulaiman was on hand as usual to entertain all with his breath taking visuals.
Of course, the main man of the night!
DJ Bunga of Twilight Action Girl!
Check the various faces of Lim behind the dj console.
"Yess...this top is divine innit??"
"Mmm.. just loves it!"
"Check this shit!"
He he he:)

It was Ham of Seven Collar T-Shirt's birthday that night!!
Hokeh.
More updates coming your way soon.
Pop by Laundry this Thursday to catch Reza Salleh's Moonshine!

Whole Bunch of Updates
Wasap y'all.
Many apologies for the delay in updates.
It keeps saying Google Error each time I upload pictures. So annoying.
After many hair pulling long moments, I have managed to get the many pictures taken from last two weeks uploaded for your viewing pleasure.
For those in the dark, Monday nights at Laundry Bar is now Monday Night Rejects. DJ Ray Soo, Lexxtronik (spelling?) and Xes!!Xes!Xes! pop by to brighten up the Monday blues with a kooky mix of electronica, indie rock and 80s cheese.
DJ Ray Soo
Xes!Xes!Xes! which I believe to be code for the Yes Yes Yes! shrieked in that moment of quivering divine pleasure..
... and his dancing shoes.
the many uber fashionable party people who came by to brighten up Laundry on the suckiest day of the week.

A very lucky man flanked by Nadia and friend

Horite. And then that Thursday came FlyFM's Campur Chart goes Live! @ Laundry Bar with acts such as Ask Me Again, Estrella and Seven Collar T-shirt.
Here's a group shot of a few friends. Happy belated Birthday to March babies Batak and Jessica!
When I first heard Ask Me Again was performing, in my head I kept thinking of the Ask Me Again I've seen time and time again at Laundry and places like Jam Asia.
I was wrong though because this is either a completely different band, or they decided to revamp the whole line up and musical direction and get evil.
Driven very much by heavy, chugging riffs and double pedal action, they sounded like a PG13 version of System of a Down or something.

The crowd appeared to know most of their songs and reciprocated by body bashing each other and head banging violently.
Check out the smiling faces..
And then there was the sugary sweet Estrella backed by a full band that comprised of non-other then Duan of SCTS and Jeff of Prana.
As she was halfway into the set, I heard yells from the crowd (obviously of the testosterone-fueled persuasion) screaming Liyana! Show me that smile!
He he.
No doubt her songs radiate a certain restrained sensuality that pulls one in to the tales she weaves. It appears that over time, her sets have grown only more enthralling.

Freebies giveaway!
Last up were seasoned rock veterans Seven Collar T-Shirt. Despite having heard them play countless of shows over the years, they never cease to bore me (contrary to what you think Ham!)
They played a couple of new songs that solidified them as being one of the more unique and original sounding bands in Malaysia I think. Because really. I can't think of anyone they quite sound like which is pretty awesome considering all the Western rip offs we have circuiting the scene.

Okay, just a couple of crowd shots because there wasn't much walking space and I stupidly wore heels. I know you all enjoy checking out pictures of people, but I was about to risk tumbling over unattractively for that.

More updates on Juke Joint Jupiter's blues success last Thursday coming up!
See you this Thursday!

Alompak Ago Go
I bolted awake, instinctively felt for my phone and squinted myopically at the time.
Ahh.. late. Convenient excuse to drive like a maniac.
I got there two songs into Oddstars' set. First thing I noticed was the vocalist's new pixie haircut. Very flattering I must say. Her vocals have also undergone marked improvement from the last time I caught them at Laundry. I thought the band sounded terribly messy and unpolished though. New line up perhaps? I'm not too sure.

And then there was Skudap Skudip! Hailing all the way from Klang, they experienced a rousing welcome from the over eager crowd. I've never heard of them prior to that night, but I am now officially a fan! Fusing ska influences with punk and good humor, Skudap Skudip had the crowd bopping, head bashing and having an awesome good time.

So. Much. Hair.
Zip Zieler was up next, ripping out track after track of hard rocking guitar licks and growling vocals. Only one word to describe the frontman. Savage.
It was a first for me watching a hippie clad dood go on a demon tongue wagging spree. It was utterly convincing but had me in stitches! Big thumbs up to good showmanship!

Ira was there to close the night. She was launching the release of her video which features a lot of sultry gazes and angst ridden pouts. I couldn't really hear the song though. The volume was a tad insipid.
The rest of her set that night though had a sort of melancholic, goth undertone which was often cut through with evil distorted guitars.
She was backed by Edwin of TWKUA and Eddy of Triple6Poser.

It's the end of the month! This week, it's Crossborders!

Valentine's @ Laundry with Lap Sap!
Heyhey everybody!
Happy Belated Valentine's Day!
So last Thursday we got the LapSap boys to pop by Laundry, rip out a couple of heart-thumping indie/electro clash tunes and rouse all party people into a fevered hot mess.
With VERY successful results I must say. Laundry's dance floor was packed with uber-trendy, brightly dressed youngsters of all walks of life. There were neon colored pants, aviators, headbands, beehives, wigs, you name it, it was likely there.
Check Ah Xu on the decks....
...and the barrage of pictures in no particular order i have uploaded for your viewing pleasure.
Mega and friend!

DJ Blink
Lim & Eddy

Striking a pose.
Winner of the AirAsia tickets! Edie Sedgwick & Andy Warhol (albeit with black hair)

SueLynn & Marcus

Britney gone wild & DJ Goldfish
Despite the fact that Laundry was fully loaded with cheesy romancing couples early on in the night, we managed to effectively boot the oh-so-jaded conventional means of celebrating the saint of love.
Crank the volume, knock back a couple and dance the night away celebrating good music, good company and the freedom to live and love people.
Happy Valentine's Day!

Valentine's Upon Us!

The LAPSAP duo is giving up their "expensive" romantic dinner just to set up, sound check and then give you a one off valentine special for all you single or taken losers out there.
Fly away with a pair of AIRASIA tickets; a rendezvous for only the most creative and well-dressed couple!
No significant other? Not to worry! Get a buddy to role-play for the night!
We're thinking Andy & Edie, Kurt & Courtney, Sid & Nancy.
It's going to be sick!
10pm till 1am!
